Memorial Day Weekend

We spent this past weekend at the lake in Rochester, spending time with friends and family. What a fun time! Trevor was going to spend some time with us this weekend, but opted to visit his cousins in Milford instead. I was a little bummed about that, and to be quite honest, missed the kiddo this weekend.

Dan worked Friday and Saturday nights, and of course, as Murphy's Law would have it, didn't get a wink of sleep on Saturday night. Sunday morning came really early, and he came home and slept for a little while before we headed up to Rochester. My parents friends, Ray and Cyrena, came over Sunday night, and after mom cooked an amazing dinner of barbeque ribs and parmesan chicken wings, we took the boat out for an evening cruise. Dan and I enjoyed a fire by the water on Sunday night, and turned in way too late for Olivia to come wake us at 7 a.m.

In leiu of doing a big brunch like we normally do while we're there, we decided to have a mid-morning brunch instead. Because we have a rather large extended family, and everyone has different schedules, we were having trouble coordinating schedules for a meal. The brunch worked out beautifully!! Biscuits and Gravy and Breakfast Casserole always satisfy me! There were 32 people there, enjoying each others company and their time at the lake. My grandmas (all three of them) rode together to spend the day. Nothing makes me happier than to see the three of them, and spend time with them. They are all three beautiful women, and have been largely influential in my 25 (almost 26) years of my life.
All in all, the weekend went well, and here are some pictures to enjoy!!

MUAH! I still torment Elizabeth by kissing her!!

Dan, Olivia and I on the boat.

Reading books. Like always. Perched on Uncle Danny's lap. Like always.

Riverside Park

Last weekend, Dan and I and Trevor went to Riverside Park in Logansport with Wade, Deborah and their kids. (Just Jordan, Matthew, Ben & Savannah......the other 2 were at their dad's.) Our intention was to get B & K hot dogs and eat at the park, then ride the carousel. It would have been Savannah's first carousel ride. We got there and the carousel was closed. It doesn't open until Memorial Day. Although that was a bit of a disappointment (I have to admit that I was kinda' WANTING to ride the carousel and grab at the rings.) I don't think that Trevor and Jordan were too disappointed. Evidentially there isn't much about riding a merry-go-round that appeals to a 13 or 14 year old. We had out B & K, and the kids played on the playground, so we did have fun, but will have to save our carousel riding for another day after the Memorial Day weekend. Here's some pictures:
Just the three of us! :-) Trevor's a pretty good looking kid, huh?

Dan and Savannah Banana. Isn't she just beautiful? She's quite fond of Uncle Danny, too. (Just like her Aunt Sarah is!)

Jordan and Dan on the stairs to the slide.

Dan was just like a little kid, showing them how strong he was by climbing this pole and hanging from the top. Amazingly, he actually IS really strong, even though he's pretty little. :)

Trevor and Jordan at the top of the slide.
All in all, we had a great time, and look forward to going back another time, when the weather is nice, the carousel and puttputt golf is open, and we have all the kids. :)
Oh...and...for those of you who don't know, Wade and Deborah have SEVEN children!! Wade's three kids, Jordan, Matthew and Benjamin; Deborah's three kids, R.C., Xavier and Brianna; and THEIR baby girl, Savannah. They're such great kids, and so much fun, and we always have such a blast with them. Although, I have to admit, if I had seven kids to look after, I definitely wouldn't have much hair left. Deborah has managed impressively well. :-) Kudos to them!

New At This

So we're new to blogging. I must admit that I've been inspired by my friend, Christina, who is quite a skilled blogger. It's a fun place to visit to get updates as to what is going on in her life, and to see her glowing and excited about the things that she's doing. :-) I like to think that we lead a pretty fun and exciting life..... so why not share it with everyone? It cuts down on the numerous emails that we're sending out, with the daily reports of the ever exciting happenings in Brookston.

Dan's a little leery of stuff like this, but has offered (yes, that's right, I said OFFERED) to learn. I didn't ask him to, but these days, we're trying all kinds of new stuff together. I, of course, working in the technology industry, embrace new stuff, but I'm still trying to get him to the point that he doesn't break out a sweat, start shaking, stuttering, and turn pale at the mere mention of "MySpace". He's a master at email, (I'm sure most of you know), and is getting great at Facebook, so I'm confident that he can do this. :-) You might find that in the beginning, most of these posts are coming from me. But, it's my goal to one day get him to sit down and blog about ANYTHING,......our world-class neighbors, Cinco de Mayo adventures, or Trevor, perhaps.

So, let the blogging begin..... (I guess.) Happy reading!
