Remember him???

Remember our mean cat, Freeney? Well, things haven't changed. :) He's still mean as ever.... and even BIT Dan yesterday. Drew blood and all. What a shit. This picture says it all. I was trying to get him to let me pet him, and Dan was trying to take a picture at the same time. I'm laughing at him, while he maintains this look of "I will attack you!" Hahaha!!! :)

And as for Fergie? Well, she still thinks that the litter box is a sandbox for her to play in, she still really wants nothing to do with Dan, and still sleeps with me when Dan's not home. Well, actually, they BOTH sleep with me when Dan's not home.....

They're getting to be harder and harder to tell apart, so we rely heavily on their personalities to tell the difference between them. Hahaha!

Anyway, just thought I would share!

P.S. We might have a minor problem in the upcoming weeks.... as they're not going to get to have Dan's side of the bed anymore..... if you haven't already heard, he's officially done at the emergency clinic on May 1. WOO HOO!! This has been long awaited, and we both couldn't be happier!!

And they say they don't like each other.....

Dan snapped this picture last night as the cats were laying together on the couch. They were "spooning"...... Freeney had his arms all wrapped around Fergie....and they were sleeping. Too cute! And to think that they HATED each other for at least a week. It appears they've gotten over that.

Their New Favorite Spot

Dan sent me this picture this morning..... We recently "re-acquired" a futon that we had given to my sister and Brent before they moved this fall. They didn't have room for it in the new house, so we got it back. Which ended up being fine, as we put it in the office. We can never have too many places to sleep in our house. :) Well......Freeney and Fergie definitely have taken a liking to the futon. They sit on it CONSTANTLY, sometimes in front of the window looking out. Looks like Dan even raised the blinds so they could look out. :) Anyway, here is a picture. Before long, Freeney and Fergie are going to be the same size, and we won't be able to tell them apart, huh? :) Dan and I can still tell them apart..... for now. :)

Freeney n' Fergie

It's been a million years since I've put up any posts on here. Quite honestly, when we moved, and things got busy, I just got sidetracked, and didn't really have time. I kept putting it off, intending to post a big huge update...... but now the update has gotten so huge that I don't have time. So, I'll just move forward from here, and I guess you all don't get to know what we've been up to lately. :) Ha! Just kidding.....I'm sure most of you are in touch, or have recieved an update, complete with pictures, in your email box.

I've got tons of pictures to download (hopefully I'll get it done today), of Fall Soiree, Football, Pumpkin Patch with the kiddos, Jay's Surprise 40th party, etc. But for now, I just HAD to post some cuties of the cats, though......

As you're aware, we got another kitten a couple of months ago. Dan named her. Fergie. (Haha) She looks EXACTLY like Freeney. This morning, when I was going through pictures, I saw a bunch of pictures of Freeney when he was a kitten, and they look identical. She is going to look JUST like him when she gets to be his size...... which won't be long. I'm not sure how we're going to be able to tell them apart. :)

When we first brought her home, they absolutely HATED each other...... but they grew to love one another. Matter of fact, Dan took Fergie to the clinic this weekend and spayed and declawed her.....she was just gone overnight. And Freeney was LOST. He walked around aimlessly crying, looking for her, and then when he came to the conclusion that she wasn't there anymore, became REALLY clingy. :) (Stop laughing......I don't have kids, you know. So I have resorted to treating my cats like they are children.) Ha! Anyway, here's some recent pictures.

Her favorite spot to sit in the car. Between Dan's feet.

Or on Dan's lap.

The size difference...... This was taken right after we got her. Freeney is so much bigger than her! She's grown though, so it doesn't look like such a drastic difference now.

It wasn't long before they were cuddling up together on the couch in the sunroom, their favorite place in the house......

And they've each claimed a chair in the dining room, next to the window.....where they spend most of the day napping. :)

Ole Freens.....

Well, Freeney is causing havoc again.....

When we moved into the new house, he just didn't seem to be adjusting well to the move. At all. He was pretty much spastic, and was all over the place, knocking things over and jumping on things, etc. We could tolerate the jumping and being spastic part....but the ONE thing that we were NOT willing to tolerate was him tearing up our new house. Hey, it's a new house, right? And it's really nice. I wasn't really fired up about having scratches everywhere. His new thing that he found to do, (note: he has never done before) was to jump up on the door frames as if he was going to crawl up to the ceiling. Of course, he doesn't have front claws, so his efforts weren't very successful. However, he DOES have back claws.....so upon finding a place to gorge them into the wood, he would then slide down the trim, leaving cat claw marks all the way down our trim. Yeah. No. Not happening. So, upon realizing that he's done it to two or three doors, he promptly went to the clinic to have his back claws removed as well.

The first time that we declawed him, it was because of a lot of the same reasons, but it was our couch and comforter at the old house. He didn't do so well with it. His declaw sites all came open, he chewed on his feet, and he ended up having to wear his bandages for a LONG time, and it didn't heal all that well. (I blamed the veterinarian.) We thought that perhaps he was too young. Well, the same thing happened THIS time.

I went to pick him up at the clinic last night (where he has been for a week now), and when I picked him up out of his cage (with his e-collar on), it was covered in blood, and all of the declaw sites were open with bone showing. He sat there for the whole day shaking and chewing at his feet, and even managed to get them around the front of a 12 inch e-collar. So, to sleep he went again, (of course temporarily) and this time, Dan actually put STITCHES in his feet.....two or three per site. So, now Freeney has stitches in ALL of his back toes, pink bandages on them, and is staying at the clinic longer now. What a pain. Why does our cat have to be a troublemaker? Nothing is easy with this guy. Here are some pictures:

I think he was a little ticked off about his injection here in this picture.

One foot down, one to go......

All finished, with his pink bandages. And yes, those are all of his nails sitting there next to him.

With his little e-collar on. That he somehow managed to get his feet around to chew on them. Crazy cat.
Hopefully he'll be able to come home here in the next couple of days. Dan's colleagues are probably getting tired of babysitting him. :) Stay tuned for details.

Printer Problems

My friend Lori sent this to me via email this past week. I am convinced that this HAS to be Ole' Freens' brother...... for those of you who know our cat, I am sure that you understand.

Happy Monday!

Freeney is no longer a man.......

Freeney has been getting a little on the wild side lately, and starting to act like a Tom cat. He has been biting people (ie: Marcus, Beth, Dan and I, my niece, etc.) and howling and growling. He wants to run outside all the time, too. We were afraid that he was going to start peeing on everything in the house. So, Dan took him to the clinic with him last night. This is a picture of him in his cage. That is my black and grey sweater that is laying there with him. He loves to lay on and smell my clothes, so Dan thought he would take something along with him that would remind him of "mom". Later in the evening, I got the following email with photo attached:

Dad,

Can you put those back, please? I'll be good, I promise!!!!

Love,
Freeney

Well....that's it. He's no longer a man. He's an "it". :) And yes, I do agree that it's a bit morbid and gross that Dan would take a photograph of our cat, half sedated and crying, laying next to and looking at his own testicles laying on a piece of cotton. However, I was so inclined to share. :)

Sweet Dreams, Sleep Tight.....

Our cat is crazy.
He's spoiled rotten, and the most pampered kitten you'll ever meet in your life. He loves being around people, so naturally, he sleeps all day long, and then proceeds to keep us up all night. In summary:

12:05 - Lay down in bed, set the alarm and turn off the lights. Exhausted.

12:10 - Freeney comes in the room and proceeds to attempt to jump up on the bed twice, and misses. Finally gets up there on the third try. Promptly walks up to the head of the bed and starts to chew on my hoop earring. I put him under the covers, where he sleeps most of the time.

12:15 - Decides he'd rather engage in a "pouncing spat" than sleep. Proceeds to get out from under the covers and jump from one end of the bed to the other, stopping just long enough to lick my hair every so often. This goes on for ten minutes.

12:25 - Freeney is now standing on my nightstand licking my glass of ice water. I find the squirt bottle and squirt him in the face. He jumps down and disappears under the bed for a while. Presumably, licking himself.

12:45 - I'm almost asleep. I am woken up by the noise of my cell phone beeping. It's not a familiar noise to me, so I pick it up and see what it was making that noise for. Oh right. I had plugged it into the charger next to the bed (not normally where I charge it), and Freeney was playing with the charger, pulled it from the wall, and my phone was alerting me to let me know that it was no longer charging. I get out of bed and plug it back in. While I'm up, might as well go ahead and get some new ice water, since the cat has had his face in it. This time, I put it in the "Freeney-proof" cup, with a lid. An adult version of a sippy cup.

12:48 - I return to the bedroom, and find Freeney swatting at, playing with, and chewing on the string for the mini-blind. The blinds are half up and half down, and all tangled up. I take three minutes to put them back in place, this time securing the cord at the top so it is out of his reach.

12:50 - Another 10 minutes of pouncing. This time, I spank him and tell him to lay down. He does. That lasted about two minutes.

1:02 - Again, I'm just about to sleep, and BANG! I sit straight up and look around, searching for the prowler that I thought was somewhere in my house until I hear a horrific sounding buzzing noise. It is then that I realize that Freeney, in his playtime on DAN'S nightstand this time, knocked over his fan, and a picture frame that was sitting there. I again get OUT of bed and pick up the fan.

1:12 - Freeney is chewing on my engagement ring. I don't think he can hurt it, but it's annoying. I spank him again, a little more sternly, and put him on the floor. Hoping and praying that he will disappear until I am at least sleeping heavily.

1:15 - Freeney is in his litter box, which is in Dan and I's bathroom. He proceeds to (what I refer to as) "play" in there for approximately 4 minutes. I'm yelling at him, and the noise stops. He doesn't come out. I again get up, to find him stuck, half of his body in the toilet, and half of his body out of the toilet. I retrieve him, and put him on the floor.

After about 45 more minutes of pouncing around, jumping off and on my face, waking me up several times, and jumping from the bed to Dan's nightstand to our dresser and knocking over about 5 bottles of perfume, Freeney got kicked out of the bedroom and the door shut. He only sat at the door and whined for ten minutes, which is an improvement on some nights. I think I finally got to sleep around 2:00. And I'm glad that Dan is home for the next week, because the nights with "Freens" is much easier with another referee.

Here are some recent pictures:

If he cannot sleep with us, paperwads are the next best thing. He's particularly fond of paper wads.

We are clearly not kidding about the cat wanting to sleep right on top of us. He prefers our faces, actually, but this is about as close as we let him get.

Or on our arms, during a nap on the couch.

And if that doesn't work, he'll curl up in any bit of laundry that he can find. Notice this is next to the laundry basket.....so the jeans must have come FROM the laundry basket onto the bed, where he made his nest.

And THANK YOU, TIFFANY! The pooping penguin was not intended to be a cat toy. However, it's one of his favorites. It doesn't poop anymore, and I think it might not have a head anymore, either, but it does still bounce around and jump and make some really obnoxious noises. We're forever grateful. :)

Freeney's New Favorite Place

His new favorite place is in Trevor's room. He loves to crawl up on the bed there and look out the window. The sun shines in there, so the bed is pretty warm most of the time from the sunlight. Here's a couple of pictures:

He's still a bit clumsy. Dan snapped this picture the other day, after Freeney went to jump on the bed, missed, and landed in the garbage can. :) Ha!

Sittin' in the sunlight.... :)

Lookin' out the window! :)

His new favorite spots.....

Freeners has found a couple of new spots to hang out..... There are no words to describe this picture below.....

He's also discovered that my laptop is warm, and a good place for him to lay. He's not heavy enough right now to hurt anything, but he's not going to be able to lay there forever.... :)

Welcome, Freeney!

We did Christmas here at our house with Trevor the day after Christmas. Of course, he was super excited to open all of his presents.... Clothes, MP3 player, motorized scooter, pull up bar, more clothes, a stocking full of stuff, he didn't do too bad. Dan and I exchanged gifts (a navigation system for him, and a Wii Fit for me), too.

After all the presents were opened, Dan announced that there was one more present.....then I heard him. Freeney. A kitten. Meowing from the small bathroom. :) I had mentioned a few times that I might like to have a kitten, so Dan started the search to get one for me. And that's how we ended up with Freeney. And I must admit, as I sit here and type this right now on the couch, with the laptop on the coffee table, he is cuddled up in my lap, purring away. He's definitely a mommy's boy. Here's some pictures, definitely the first of many more to come, I'm sure......

Morning after Christmas.....
He didn't have a name yet at this point.
Sittin' up on Dad's lap.

And on his back under the coffee table, trying to bite Dad's shoe.

With Dan at the clinic...... This was the day after he got declawed. He was crying and hurting so bad, we kept him sedated, because I couldn't stand it. It made me want to cry. So, he went to work with Dan a could of nights so he could watch him. His little hands were all bandaged up, and we called them his "boxing gloves". He kinda' skiied around with them. It was pretty funny.

Sitting on the couch at Dan's work with his boxing gloves on. Look at that sad face.... :-(

And perhaps, just perhaps, he enjoys Coors Light. :)

And enjoys playing in boxes, too.
Note: Our house is not a disaster. Dan was throwing newspapers at him in the previous two photos,......we're really not slobs. :)
